Everyday Interests
Everyday Interests brings together an oversized, watchful eye and softly rendered lips with the quiet clutter of a domestic still life — a potted plant reaching upward, a checkered creature keeping company nearby. Vertical bands of bold colour divide the canvas into rhythmic sections, while collaged newsprint fragments — “Always,” “interests,” pieces of an invitation — surface throughout like scraps of memory pinned to a wall. The painting suggests that observation and ordinary life are never far apart: even the most watchful eye finds its home among small, everyday things.
