Service Mode
Service Mode breaks its composition into quadrants — red, purple, orange, and white — quietly overlaid with the word “Services,” clipped straight from newsprint and pasted into the upper canvas like a found instruction manual. Circular forms recur throughout: a large divided disc anchors the top half, echoed by a smaller red-and-black crescent floating beside it, while a solid black arc curves in from below like a gear mid-turn. Fragments of collaged text — “path,” a torn “for,” half-legible clippings — surface here and there, suggesting systems, functions, and processes running quietly in the background. Bold black outlines keep the geometry crisp against a warm, textured gold ground, giving the piece the feel of a control panel abstracted into pure colour and form — mechanical, orderly, and strangely calm.
