My Journey as an Artist: From First Brush to First Sold Painting

People assume artists always knew. I didn't. This is the short version of how I got here — for anyone thinking about starting.

The years before anything sold

For the first several years I painted only for myself. Nothing was on sale. Most of it wasn't good. But I stopped judging each canvas and started counting them. Somewhere past the hundredth, my own voice showed up.

Finding acrylic and mixed media

Oil was too slow. Watercolour was too polite. Acrylic and mixed media let me work fast, layer heavily, and add real materials — ink, charcoal, gold leaf. Once I settled on this medium, the paintings started to look like me.

The first sale

A collector walked into a group show, stood in front of one canvas for a long time, and bought it before leaving. That painting is now in a home in Bangalore. Every artist remembers their first one.

The studio today

I paint five days a week. Every painting on this site is an original, on canvas, signed, and shipped with a certificate of authenticity. There are no prints and no reproductions.
